The Residence Maldives

The Residence Maldives is located in the pristine southern part of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, one of the largest and deepest atolls in the Maldives. It consists of two resorts connected by a 1 km long bridge. Falhumaafushi offers 94 villas right on the beach or over the water, while the newly opened Dhigurah offers 173 villas with pools. Diving enthusiasts will feel like they are not just in paradise – they truly are. In a variety of spectacular reefs, you can spot reef sharks, tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, as well as barracudas and manta rays. Gaafu Alifu Atoll is one of the largest and deepest atolls in the world. On the island, there is a PADI dive school that offers several dive trips in the area.

The "two-island concept" makes The Residence Maldives suitable for a wide range of guests and also allows them to use the facilities of the other island. This gives them access to a total of nine restaurants and six bars – a variety that they won't find elsewhere. Between the two islands is a small, untouched "Castaway Island," which is often used for private picnics and barbecues.

A while ago, the Earth Basket program was launched, a Farm to Table concept that offers local products, which are then used in the island’s restaurants. The activities on-site cater to guests of all ages and provide them with unforgettable experiences in nature. The head gardeners guide guests through the ecosystem and introduce them to the native plants. Cooking classes for both children and adults can also be arranged, where fresh local produce is turned into delicious Maldivian dishes.

The Residence Maldives has also implemented a series of sustainability projects as part of its commitment to greater environmental friendliness. Both resorts are part of the "Protect Maldives Seagrass" initiative, launched by the Blue Marine Foundation and the Maldives Underwater Initiative, aimed at protecting the delicate marine ecosystem. The resort has installed solar panels to generate its own electricity and reduce diesel consumption, implemented a rainwater collection system, replaced plastic water bottles with glass bottles, and set up a water recycling plant. Additional exciting projects are already in the planning stages.
